Shape of horns soaring up in the back of a whale Entering Gui-myeon, Wanju-gun getting out of Jeonju heading for Sunchang from Jeonju n # 27 local road, Gyeonggaksan soars in north east of Gui reservoir.¡¡Though facing Moaksan, Gyeonggaksan is not a much visited mountain for it is veiled by Moaksan, no other mountain will ever give more pleasure to those who want quiet hiking.

The name, Gyeonggaksan is given because of its horn-like shape soaring up in the back of a whale using Gyeong (Ìô) meaning a whale, and gak (ÊÇ)meaning a horn. Looking up from beneath,
Gwanggok-maeul, Gyeonggaksan looks like a whale heading to Moaksan, and two rocks on the top are as if horns soaring up in the back of a whale.
Hiking will last for about 30 minutes by gentle and easygoing ridgeline, during which fir forest of Hyokwanjae which does not lose its color even in the winter offers enough forest bath to freshen up the fatigue of the hiking.
Oknyeobong linked to it offers a fine view of the vein of the Jeolla-do provinces passed by. The road to Ssukjae to east is a steep slope. 30 minutes walk along Imdo from Ssukjae will lead you to Jukrim Songsan Hot Spring famous for Sulfur element.
This is worth recommending to freshen up the fatigue of the hiking.¡¡As the surroundings of Gyeonggaksan is getting known as a jumping point of paragliding, you may find lively paragliders gliding up in the sky on weekends.
